Twitter a marketing ploy that managed to catch people with nothing better to do

I suppose that marketing people will be trying to knock down my door for this but if you still can’t figure out what to do with that Twitter account, don’t feel bad.
Twitter is simply one of those fads that managed to capture the attention of the generation that is frantically typing away at those cell phones sending pundits of obnoxious information to their social networking peers.
Marketeers (like Musketeers but more verbose individuals) love twitter because they know that people who have it linked to the mobile devices will be receiving a flood of info that will hopefully attract them to some client website, store, event, or whatever.
Can you blame them? Marketers and individuals place approximately 155 million messages that span the globe covering everything and anything that they believe has a value of more than spurious gibberish, and being entered by an incredible 22.5 percent of all Twitter accounts.
I tried to use twitter and I found that it does nothing for me but I guess that I am a normal person because I am not alone in these feelings.
Just for the fun of it, here is what the dictionary has on twitting.
tr.v. twit•ted, twit•ting, twits
To taunt, ridicule, or tease, especially for embarrassing mistakes or faults.
See Synonyms at ridicule.
n.
1. The act or an instance of twitting.
2. A reproach, gibe, or taunt.
3. Slang, A foolishly annoying person.
I think that they could have included a footnote on thumb twiddling.
Here is an article from another site that draws a similar conclusion.
So if you are one of those who doesn’t want to use that Twitter account, don’t give it a second thought because it probably won’t be long before its gone from cyberspace.
