Not looking forward to the future!

Hmmm, I was under the impression that as time progressed so would people of the world.  What has gone wrong?

We now have just about anything and everything available to make our lives easier.  So how is it that instead of life becoming better, it is getting worse.  People are less educated even though they have a multitude of access worldwide through the use of the Internet to health, history, science, math, language, etc. that should provide answers to the enhancement of society but are not.

Now that I have reached the age of wisdom, yes a nice metaphor for those over 60, I thought that I could slow down and try to enjoy things that I have not been able to during my career.

The New Millennium of 2001 brought many changes into our lives:

  • George Bush is elected president of the USA
  • Let us never forget the terrorist attack of 9/11
  • The world’s first space tourist
  • The Apple iPod
  • The terrorist attack of Indonesia
  • The Space Shuttle Columbia disaster
  • The invasion of Iraq
  • George Bush is re-elected president of the USA
  • The Athens 2004 Olympic Games
  • Terrorist Train Bombing in Madrid
  • Exploration of Mars using rovers
  • Indian Ocean earthquake
  • Terrorist suicide bombers strike London
  • North Korea conducts its first nuclear test
  • The West African black rhino is declared extinct
  • Barack Obama is sworn in as 44th president of the USA
  • Americans and Greeks losing their homes and pensions

Just to mention a few as a reminder.

Are you seeing a pattern here?  We now have the G9, the G20, and other nonsense names for groups that are supposed to lead countries toward the improvement but what are they doing, nothing.

What we are not seeing is a reduction in the cost of education or better education to develop better leaders.

As I mentioned to an old high school friend, now I fully understand what "survival of the fittest!" means.

I guess that I will have to wait at least another twenty years since our “leaders” will probably raise the retirement age to 110 after that so that they won't have to pay anyone a pension.
