Issues of Information Technology Disputes

Information is a part of everyone’s life and can be affected globally by anyone using a computer, and a network whether it is a mobile, WIFI, or cable.  The most publicized violation of information is Identity Theft but a multitude of ways to steal and misuse information can be found even in the simplest acts of everyday life.

Users discarding old personal computers with hard disks, pieces of paper, or not being vigilant on the Internet with credit card numbers, account numbers, or other documents containing personal information can lead to the opening of Pandora’s Box of legal problems.  Today criminals are “high tech” with the advancement of duplicating credit cards using information mined through illegal methods skimming or swiping of electronic information by imitating bank ATM characteristics.

Companies are just as prone to protecting information as individuals and the simple act of having a computer with sensitive data being serviced can be detrimental.

The information age provides us with many positive advantages but the law must be assisted by professionals who know and study the finer particulars of our profession if we are to be protected from individuals who abuse it.
